Something Like Redemption (Something Like Normal, book two) by Monica James–Review

I devoured book one, Something Like Normal, and could not get enough of Quinn and Mia. So, I was chomping at the bit to read book two. Due to immense twists, turns, and plot drops that will make you go, ‘whoa’, I need to be careful with what I say, due to possible spoilers.

Something Like Redemption picks up with Mia and Quinn on the run. I love their relationship because Quinn is there for her and is not willing to let her attack life and certain consequences on her own. He has morphed into this rough and tough bad boy with a slight penchant for being overly aggressive yet has a caring side.

“Don’t change who you are for people who don’t even know who they are. You’re beautiful, inside and out.”

Mia is tough as nails. As a female lead, she is an awesome counterpoint character to Quinn. She is scrappy, has an intuition that never serves her wrong (or does it), has an emotional side, and is beginning to learn the meaning of home and family.

There is a lot of angst and drama written throughout this book. I love a good angst-written book because it adds another layer to the story and keeps pushing that book along like a current in water. However, Mia created a lot of this angst/drama and I question if some of it was truly needed. She was trying to push Quinn away so many times that it created a distraction from the actual story.

Now something that I hadn’t seen coming was that cliffy. GAH!!! I want more. I need to see what happens next for Quinn and Mia. For some silly reason, I thought this ended with book two, so when I hit the end and there still were questions floating around, I was shook. I need to find out if Mia and Quinn are together. Do they stop running? If they go home, what happens with the situation there? Is Abi’s dad able to help them? Monica, I have so many questions and need the next book for some answers! Thank you.

“I’d go anywhere with you, Red. It wouldn’t matter where. Just as long as you were with me, nothing else would matter.”
