Hot Heir by Pippa Grant–Review

513HcUUMhvL

Hot Heir is the story about Peach, Papaya (Peach’s sister) and Viktor. Peach and Viktor have an irritate each other to hate relationship. It was so fun to read about their antics with each other. It reminded me of a twelve-year-old boy who pulls the pigtails on the girl that he likes. Such a comedic romance book.

Viktor is currently the head bodyguard for Manning (the royal hockey player from Royally Pucked). Peach has a best friend, Joey, that she co-owns, Weightless, a flight adventure company with. Joey is from ‘The Pilot and the Puck-Up.

Peach finds herself in a precarious position, that just happens to include Viktor. Peach is trying to obtain legal guardianship of her sister, but the judge has ordered that Peach must marry first before this can happen. Consequently, Viktor finds himself in a position he never thought he’d be in. He just found out that he is king of Amoria (a small country that his grandfather was dethroned from). However, life as a royal may not be so ‘peachy’ (ha-ha, see what I did there😉). For Viktor to become king he needs to have a wife. Hilarity ensues as these two work to solve each other’s problems.

Hot Heir is a hilariously, well written book that is full of heat, chemistry, craziness, mishaps and love. Ms. Grant wrote another book that can be swung out of the park. It was a wonderful read!!

Breck

My name is Brecklyn Brannon, and I’m not who I claim to be.

A year ago, I packed up my promising life in the city for a man I saw only once.

Accepting a temporary job with Cade and four blazing hot veterans should have been my way in.

Except, Cade acts like he would rather be tortured than speak to me.

He can resist all he wants, but I made a promise that I intend to keep.

Even if it costs me everything.

Cade

I’ve watched her for over a year.

There’s something about her that seems familiar… but now that she’s living here for two weeks, I could care less what it is.

I just want her gone.

Breck is temptation personified, and some lines can’t be crossed.

I’m Major Cade Jameson, and I made a promise, too.

One that I can’t break.

No matter how hard it gets.

About the Author:

A self-proclaimed reader enthusiast, Kristy started her writing journey back in 2009, reading and writing when her daughter was napping. Establishing her place in Corporate America (because something had to pay the bills), writing became her dirty, late-night secret.

After eight long years, she released her debut novel, Commander in Briefs. It was a long road, but she can honestly say, the road less traveled had the most beautiful sights.

The only thing Kristy Marie loves as much as reading and writing is sports! Especially those that require muscles and a nice ass. Her favorite is, and always will be, baseball. She’s such a fan, that she even married her small town’s high school’s centerfielder where they still live with their three badass kids.

Commander in Briefs is her first series but definitely not her last.

High School Lover by Rose Croft–Review

41497357

Rose Croft is a debut author and High School Lover is her debut book. I was unsure of what I was going to experience prior to reading, but I was pleasantly surprised. I had surmised that it was a ‘friends to lovers’ type of setting, but it is so much more.

Andrew and Loren are good friends but are also friends with Mike. Loren and Andrew’s relationship eventually transitions into a love relationship, however, not all are happy with their new pairing. Because of this, they are forced to breakup and eventually lose touch with each other. An unforeseen and unexpected moment happens in their life that brings them back together.

Now you need to read this book to see what happens up to this point and after their reunion. Rose wrote a well-written book that takes you on the journey of these two main characters from high school to adult. Many hard-hitting topics were discussed and written well. I believe that we all could be transported in time from our own high school self through adulthood. I, truly, felt for Loren and Andrew. There were many times that I was screaming in frustration (at both these two characters and Ms. Croft) for the quest that she had created.

Besides, teenager angst and adults that had communication issues. She touched upon the stereotypical ‘norms’ that unfortunately are present in modern society. The concept of ‘judging a book by its cover’ is well covered throughout. It made me stop and think about this concept in real life.

High School Lover is well written with good topics. The ending is phenomenal!! The pacing and flow of the book was consistent, except for a small portion of the middle. The progress was still forward, just at a slower pace than the rest of the book. As I mentioned though, the ending was spectacular and made it all worth it!!

Congrats Rose on a job well done!! PS…you will fall in love with John, Andrews brother. I can’t wait to read his story!

New Release with Review: Seven Minutes ’till Midnight by Sunniva Dee

**(Mind Blown) ** Please give me a few moments to re-assemble my thoughts within my brain.  (1, 2, 3…10).
mind blown GIF by Debby Ryan

Ok, I think I’m good now. Have you ever experienced that feeling of complete weightlessness, like every bit of air in your lungs has left them leaving you suspended in time? That feeling of floating, not knowing where your next breath is coming from and all time stands still? Yep, I didn’t think I’d ever experience that in my lifetime either, however, following Seven Minutes ‘till Midnight that’s how I felt. I, very cautiously put my kindle down (despite me wanting to throw it repeatedly) and just absorbed everything I have read. OMG, y’all, this book is EVERYTHING!!

I never knew that I needed a ‘Troy’ in my life, but I immediately want to put my order in for one of my very own. From his tri-colored dreads to his passion in playing the drums, I need everything about this man! (🙋🏻‍♀️Have you seen the cover model? Anybody have a name for that man with gorgeous eyes?👀)

Troy Armstrong is a mountain of man. He is tortured yet is epically sweet with a beautiful soul. There is so much understanding and love behind the intensity of those safari green eyes. Eyes that are luminescent and make a person feel as if he is probing your soul. Troy is kind and dedicated about his endeavors. One of which is his drumming.

Aishe Xodyar is a mid-20’s gypsy girl, who was the ‘merch girl’ for Clown Irruption the previous summer and has made friends with the band and their wives/girlfriends. She is a spitfire and will dole out the verbal lashings and comebacks before you can blink. Despite being this outgoing girl with a fiery personality, she isn’t very keen on having the attention on her. Aishe has left her gypsy family to come to America. She believes in her gypsy heritage and customs immensely and hopes that she has outrun some of them in the US. (This becomes an important concept between Aishe and Troy).

‘Troy is the air I breathe and the godd*amn devil I want to stomp out like a cigarette under my shoe.’

I am always in awe at the worlds and storylines that Sunniva creates. She has a way of creating deeply thought out fictional stories that suck you in. I don’t know how she does it, but it is a breath of fresh air. Her ability to create characters that are rich, full-bodied and in tune with multiple cultural/social/ethnic diversities is stunning and completely out of this world. I always leave learning a little bit more about our world!

“‘Drago Fuoc.” I breathe my people’s fear out in a shudder. “Different clans have different names for it, but this is ours. It’s our Romani name for the love fire.'”

“‘What you call ‘love fire’ I would call ‘heartbreak'”.

Here’s the difference between a Sunniva book and others. A good book sucks you into that fantasy world, making you a part of it instead of a spectator. An excellent book not only sucks you into the story and makes you a part of this experience, it also leaves you learning a thing or two and truly thinking about sociological issues with society.  Ms. Dee has taken this concept and upped it by 20 times. Her storylines are that good!!

Sunniva is not only a ‘thinking’ author with storylines to match, but her technical writing is on point. Throughout her books, she fully embraces her characters and their back story. She is completely thorough, and it shows that she has researched whatever character has as a job, beliefs or customs, both national and internationally. As a former percussionist, I appreciated reading about flam-taps to triplets to single and double paradiddles! It brings back my playing days and I fully drummed along with Troy and I could empathize with his need to drum along his thigh, table or chair. That was me too. It still is. Y’all should see me driving while drumming my fingers.

Now, without a doubt, hands down, do yourself a favor and pick up any of Sunniva Dee’s books, especially ‘Seven Minutes ‘till Midnight’. She will leave you aching, blown away and yearning for more. Sunniva is a Mistress of Words and a genius with her writing. She is a profound, technical professional in assembling these thoughts, concept and beliefs into an extraordinarily well-read book.
