A Cruel Arrangement by Tijan–Review

A Cruel Arrangement is the second book in Tijan’s Kings of New York Series. This story revolves around Ashton and Molly told in a dual POV.

Ashton Walden is a busy mafioso running the Walden family mafia, while his best friend, Trace West, is running the West family mafia. If you read book 1, we were given a glimpse of how far Ashton will go for the ones he loves. We were also given a glimpse of Molly and her sweet, sunshine, yet tough-as-nails personality and her immense love for Easter Lanes, her bowling alley. Given this previous information, A Cruel Arrangement jumps right into an active storyline for Ashton and Molly and doesn’t slow down.

Now, Trace and Jess made me love them, but the unfolding storyline of Ashton and Molly made me fall in love with them deeply and immensely. The emotional journey that Ashton went through was incredible to see. This boss is used to getting things done (he’s a doer) and watching him fall in love and adjust to these new emotions is amazing. I almost hate to say this, but Ashton and Molly are truly my favorites out of this foursome.

Tijan is a master at words. It appears that no matter what she writes, it is solid gold. She truly writes her books with everything that she has. She keeps in mind the background of the story, which includes the secondary characters, and the underlying banter between all involved. I love Tijan’s writing, and she will continue to be a one-click author for me!

Enterrador by Ambere Sabo–Review

Entebook1023[18283]This was such a unique book.  I find it’s uncommon to read about the anti-hero and get their background story.  I loved this perspective, knowing the end before reading about the past. It allowed us to see how the ‘Enterrador’ persona was born, because there was a man, Adan, before there was an Enterrador.

The Silent Sons series, is listed as standalone novels. However, Enterrador has been brought up in the earlier books. This book gives a nice, concise explanation of who Adan/Enterrador is, where he came from and a small glimpse into where he is going. Who truly is/was the man behind the monster.

My head is so confused though. It’s telling me, ‘he’s the villain and shouldn’t be liked’, however, my heart is a bitch and has a different mind of its own. She’s telling me, ‘how can you really hate him after reading what he’s been through’. The thing is, I don’t know if I can ‘hate’ him after this. I felt so many emotions for him, that I fear when it comes to the next Silent Sons book (book 3, Lilly, Gunner and Enterrador), I may actually like him. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m still rooting for Lilly and Gunner, but it will be interesting to read book 3 with this newfound (semi) appreciation for the villain.

As usual with Ambere Sabo’s books, this was well written with wonderfully in-depth and complex characters. The story of Adan and Alex was so full of emotions and ups and downs. Happiness, sorrow, pain, love, absolute joy, along with a multitude of bad decisions and darkness all encompass this Silent Sons novella.

Ambere’s books continue to get better and I can’t wait for more!!

Indiscretions of a God by Sunniva Dee–Review

Cover banner

Sunniva Dee has done it again. She is the ‘queen’ when it comes to stories that contain taboo, romance and emotional angst. She has this inane ability to keep one on the edge of their seat until the very end. The title of this book says a lot as to what you may encounter. According to Merriam-Webster, Indiscretion can be defined as:

  1. Lack of discretion, or good judgement; imprudence
  2. An indiscreet act of remark

This may not mean much now as you are reading this, but let me tell you, PERFECT title. There are many instances of ‘indiscretions’ throughout this book.

This is the third book in the ‘porn star boyfriends’ series. I absolutely loved the first two and consider, ‘Twin Savage’ (book 2) as one of my top picks for 2017. Needless to say, I had HUGE hopes going into this one. Miss Dee delivered.

Isaias has many layers to his character. Just when I thought I was getting a handle on him, another layer was revealed, just like an onion. As not only the owner to the top prominent Adult Entertainment company, Lucid, he has many other responsibilities in his life. You can feel the emotional upheaval within him as he is pulled in many different directions. Isa has worked hard to try and separate himself from his ‘well-known’ mafia family. He feels like he has succeeded until a ‘famiglia’ issue is brought to his attention. It is while doing one of these ‘famiglia’ errands that he comes across, a novice nun named Tatiana. She is the light to his dark and is immediately sucked in by her beauty and presence.

Tatiana, as mentioned, is a novice nun. However, she was a much trickier character to track down as a reader. She is extremely mysterious and happens to have the knack to be in the right place at the right time (or wrong time depending on who is present). I am busting at the seams to even describe her more in detail, but anything could give it away. So, here is what I’m going to say. She is mysterious, intelligent and all questions are answered at the end. It is at this point that I felt like saying to myself, ‘Duh’! It all made sense. My only problem is, I WANT MORE ISAIAS AND TATIANA!

There were SO MANY outstanding moments in this book that it is difficult to talk about them without giving away the storyline. Let’s just say, Isa is a mafia son/businessman who puppeteers those under him with finesse. He holds secrets that are bigger, deeper and longer (😉) than the Grand Canyon. He is hoping to continue to be an independent man, but feels the draw of la familglia.  There are a couple scenes that show the true human/emotional side of him and it is extremely touching. LOVED IT!!!

Tatiana is an amazing heroine. She has as many layers as Isa has. I was desperately trying to figure out this angelic creature with spiral curls, but I should have known better. When it comes to Sunniva Dee, just let her take you away on these amazing stories that she writes. I was trying too hard to figure it out, as opposed to being swept away and just feel. Tatiana is explained in full detail, by the end of the book. What I will say is, I didn’t see that one coming!!

Indicrestions had all the feels. As mentioned earlier, emotional beyond words (holy-moley), hilariously funny moments, passion (of course) and true unconditional love. Kudos for being able to put together a fantastic read that encompasses so many different layers!!

Gift From The Hitman by Zoey Parker –Review

Zoey has written another original storyline that’s full of heart, passion, anger, resentment among other emotions. What I loved about this book is that both main characters were extremely strong personalities. Neither one seemed to overpower the other. Now don’t get me wrong, Andrei is a complete alpha that needs to be in control. However, through his ‘relationship’ with Kelly he begins to learn that having someone else in control once in awhile isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Andrei is a thirty-two year old mob boss with no family. It dawns on him one night that he desperately needs to have an heir to pass the Petrov mafia to. This borns the idea of him needing to ‘acquire’ a surrogate (of sorts).

Kelly is a twenty-five year old unemployed women with many responsibilities. Her mom has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer leaving her mom unable to work, therefore no health insurance. Kelly has recently been fired from her job, due to downsizing. She has mountains of bills being racked up and no way to pay for it. Because of this, she is forced into desperate decisions.

Andrei and Kelly are wonderful together. Can Andrei keep her safe from his past? Can Kelly change this brute from his bitter ways? One click to find out!
