This book encompasses a love story that’s being told over a decade in the making.
Felix and Maggie are first introduced when they are eighteen years ago. This is the quintessential story of ‘good girl’ and ‘bad boy from her wrong side of the tracks’.
Despite being eighteen, Maggie is kept on a very short leash. Her father is very demanding and controlling. One night she goes to a party with her best friend and ends up meeting Felix. They click from the start. Her father of course is extremely unhappy about this and continues to urge her on her path to NYC (which is where she has a full scholarship). An ultimatum is given and she must decide what to do.
Felix along with his brother, Jared, live on the wrong side of town and live with their foster dad on a permanent basis. Felix works for his foster father, Darren, in his garage with no plans of going to college.
Felix and Maggie have an incredibly rough road ahead of them. They go through some incredible shockers in their young lives and must navigate through as a couple. Sometimes successful and other times not.
Corrode is an incredibly realistic book with themes and situations that can happen to a person throughout their lives. Ella Fields did a fantastic job of bringing realistic characters to life. She was able to evoke much emotion through their high and lows that one could feel as they were reading. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
